What will our fundraising deadline be? Do we have until the Winter Thaw in late March to come up with a down payment?
An events calendar would be good for advertising. For example:
Slide show/s at the college outing clubs in December, Me, Ward, Al, anyone?
Competition in January
Silent auction in February
5 college outdoor fest in early March
Finally the Winter Thaw
We can nail down dates for the 5 college fest and the Winter Thaw.
Danielle said she would be willing to organize a silent auction, something like Laurie did, she may have some insight with this. D. says she might be able to get her brother to let us use the Esselon Cafe as a location. I'll try to get a date from her, she'll be gone much of January so mid Feb will be likely.
I'll see Pete tonight and see what he thinks about a comp, though it may be out of his hands as the owners of the NAC are documented tools. If not there, do we know anyone at either of the Metrorock gyms or the BRG? I hate to advertise Boston, but their close and have a lot of money.
Perhaps a Farley Initiative addenda to our existing WMCC brochures. A slip in information packet about the goal that we can use to hand out to friends/family who may not climb but are in a high enough tax bracket to benefit from a deductible donation. We will need to find ways to bring in donations from outside of the climbing community and make it easy for them to do so. I'll ask around and at the comp to see if anyone has some graphic arts experience to assist with the various posters and fliers we're going to need, maybe Pete Ward, he does a nice job on his comp stuff and is a decent technical writer. Ken Majka is working on a t-shirt design, though he needs some needling sometimes to follow through on stuff.
The web site will need some updating as well. The PayPal account thing sounds like a good idea. Also maybe a significant donor page. $100-250, 250-500, 500- 1000, over 1000$ with your name in whichever category, might encourage some businesses to donate if they can get some advertising out of it. Also panders to people's egos a bit to see their name at the top of the page. I can mention the need for a web master again at the comp if Scott is too busy.
How did things go in G.B.? I just could not get out of work. It sounded like a big project hope it got a dent put in it. I'm going to try and wrap up the Mormon stairs this weekend and get my rig out of the woods and refocus on security before the bad weather moves in for the season.
I guess that's all I can think of, I'll be in touch before the comp Jeff and I'll probably call Rob to help me with the power point slides. Later -Jon
