{InfoBar} Fire Drill in the Library and Summer Jobs

Hello All,

We think we will be able to hire two students to work in the library this
summer. If you are interested in a summer job, please let me know soon.
 Our budget has not been finalized yet, but we think we should be able to
hire two students for up to 29 hours a week.  I do give hiring priority to
students who currently work in the library, and several students who do not
work in the library have already asked if we are hiring.

You may have seen this announcement

the daily digest that there will be fire drills in all of the academic
buildings on campus soon.  Though you regularly have fire drills in your
dorms, we haven't had one for the library building since 2018!  I want to
remind you of a few things if you are in the library when the fire alarm
sounds:

-You are to exit the building via whichever is the closest exit door.  A
staff member asked if they could use an emergency exit that is alarmed, and
the answer is yes, this is the time to use emergency exits!

-You are not responsible for making sure patrons get out of the building.
Once emergency personnel arrive,  they will check for patrons, starting in
the stairwells that lead to the emergency exits.

-Take the stairs, and never the elevator, during a fire emergency.

-Shut any doors that you notice are open to prevent fire from spreading.

-Once you get out of the building, walk over to the middle of the library
lawn.  That is our designated meeting place to make sure all library staff
have made it out of the building. Don't go to the library parking lot
because you may get in the way of emergency personnel who are arriving.
