Hello All,
HERE ARE SOME REMINDERS REGARDING ETIQUETTE WHILE WORKING AT THE
INFOBAR:
-Cell phones are not to be used for calls or texts while working at the
InfoBar. If Olivia or have to tell you to put yours away too many times
we will issue warnings, which may lead to you losing your job. Please
keep your phone in your pocket or book bag so you won't be tempted to
use it.
-Snacks and meals may not be consumed at the InfoBar. If you are rushing
in from class and need a snack, you may use your 5 minute break to eat
at the counter across from the InfoBar. There is not to be any eating at
the InfoBar counter, or even behind it in the service area.
-Please reshelve cds, dvds, and games as they are returned. Since these
collections are all on the first floor and in view of the InfoBar it is
fine to walk away and to reshelve these items immediately, as long as
you keep an eye on the InfoBar if you are the only one working during
that shift.
HERE ARE SOME THINGS THAT HAVE CHANGED SINCE SPRING. THESE TOPICS ARE
ALL LISTED IN THE NEWS SECTION OF THE LIBGUIDE:
-Carrels have been assigned. Olivia is the staff person in charge of
carrel assignments. Please direct students to her if they have questions
or comments about carrels.
-There are some Seydel books on display in the gallery as part of the
current exhibit. Patrons may borrow them if they bring them up from the
gallery. In the library catalog, both the Status and Availability show
up as On Display, in case patrons go to the stacks first looking for
these items.
-The OneCard office moved to the 3rd floor. Because Campus Safety and
Security now issues ID's the office on the 3rd floor has limited hours.
If patrons need to have new photos taken, have them email
onecard at hampshire.edu to make an appointment. They can also go down to
the ground floor and talk to a member of the Safety department.
-Video game cartridges are now being stored in cases in the cabinet
where we keep the chargers. The empty cases are shelved on the first
range of shelving in the board game collection. Patrons are supposed to
bring the empty case to the InfoBar, and then you go to the cabinet to
get the game cartridge to put it in the empty case. Please do remember
to put the cartridges back in the cases when patrons return games,
before returning the empty case to the shelf. In order to make room for
the games, the Spoken Word collection was moved to the low shelving
where we used to keep current periodicals. The seed cabinet is in front
of the range where the Spoken Word collection is stored.
-The APL is open 24/7 while classes are in session. However, Campus
Safety is supposed to lock the Knowledge Commons at closing. I am
telling you all this because this is a new policy, and one of the
officers may ask you this at closing if they are unsure.
LASTLY, SOME NEWS. We are conducting interviews for an EVENING
SUPERVISOR tomorrow and Thursday. We will hopefully have someone hired
in to this position soon. In the meantime, Olivia or I can answer
questions about course reserves. I can take the questions about bills
and fines.
I've been told that some students missed having the opportunity to come
together as a staff since we didn't have a schedule meeting this
semester. I promise we will have some sort of gathering, I'm not sure
exactly when, but stay tuned!
Thanks, and please check in with me if you have questions about anything
mentioned in this email.
