Hi all

In case you haven't seen the awesome posters (attached) that Thom Long
designed, I wanted to alert you to this great event happening in the
Gallery tomorrow at 11.30-12.30 with Jonathon Keats, contemporary
artist, experimental philosopher, and author of a new book on
Buckminster Fuller (which we'll also have on sale). Provocative,
future-oriented ideas will be free-flowing, as will the refreshments, so
please join in if you're available.

All best

YOU BELONG TO THE UNIVERSE: BUCKMINSTER FULLER AND ANTICIPATORY DESIGN
[2]

_Lunch-time conversation with contemporary artist, author and
experimental philosopher Jonathon Keats _

A self-professed comprehensive anticipatory design scientist,
Buckminster Fuller spent much of the 20th century trying "to make the
world work for one hundred percent of humanity". His visionary thinking
led most famously to the invention of the Geodesic Dome, but his deeper
legacy was as a pioneer of world-changing ideas. Many of these - such as
gaming world peace - were not possible in his lifetime but have become
feasible since his death in 1983, and are now urgently needed to meet
the growing demands of an exploding world population with finite
resources. In _You Belong to the Universe: Buckminster Fuller and the
Future_, experimental philosopher and Amherst College graduate Jonathon
Keats sets out to revive Fuller's unconventional practice of
comprehensive anticipatory design, placing Fuller's philosophy in a
modern context and dispelling much of the mythology surrounding Fuller's
life. In this public conversation, Keats will discuss Fuller's ideas -
and his own reenvisioning of Fuller's practice - with Thom Long, Five
College Associate Professor of Architecture and Design.

_Refreshments will be served._
