FYI-- if you are interested in a possible career in Library and 
Information Science, you should attend this networking night at 
UMass.     And you should also talk to one of the librarians here at 
Hampshire anytime!  (me, Bonnie, Alana, Heather, or Abby).

*AMHERST, Mass. -* The UMass Amherst Libraries host a Library Careers 
Networking Night on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 5:30 -- 7:30 p.m., 
Room 2601, W.E.B. Du Bois Library, at the University of Massachusetts 
Amherst. The event is free, open to the public, and refreshments are 
provided.

The Library Careers Networking Night is an ALANA (African, Latino, Asian 
and Native American) diversity recruitment event for students to learn 
about regional library science graduate programs and funding 
opportunities, hear from professionals in the field, and get a chance to 
interact with librarians and library school representatives.

The event is co-sponsored by the Center for Multicultural Advancement 
and Student Studies; Simmons College School of Library and Information 
Science; University of Rhode Island Harrington School of Communication 
and Media; and University at Albany Information Studies Department.

Panelists include Dr. Chantell McDowell, Ken Ramos, and Charlotte Roh.

Dr. Chantell McDowell is the Director of Youth Services at the Worcester 
Public Library, where she is responsible for the overall management of 
the One City One library branches and youth programming at all branch 
locations in Worcester. In 2013, she published, "Serving At-Risk Teens: 
Proven Strategies and Programs for Bridging the Gap." McDowell holds a 
PhD in Organizational Leadership from Franklin University and a Master 
of Library and Information Science from Pratt Institute.

Ken Ramos is currently working on his second master's degree in Library 
and Information Science at Simmons College West focusing on academic 
librarianship and archives. Ramos has a B.A. in history from Westfield 
State University and an M.A. in Historical Archaeology from the 
University of York, England. He is a para-librarian with Amherst 
Regional High School.

Charlotte Roh is the Scholarly Communication Resident Librarian at the 
UMass Amherst Libraries. Roh manages the ScholarWorks at UMass Amherst 
institutional repository and is involved in open education, open access, 
and library publishing. She has a background in academic publishing and 
a Master of Library & Information Science degree from the University of 
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
