Hello All,

Some Reminders:

ENTERING TIME CARDS: Some students have been late for their shifts
recently. Please try your best to be on time. When you are not, please
remember to: 1. Call the InfoBar (413-559-5440) to say that you will be
late but are on your way, and 2. ENTER THE TIME YOU ACTUALLY WORKED ON
YOUR TIME CARD, NOT THE ENTIRE SHIFT. Courtney and I maintain a calendar
of subs and late arrivals. If I notice that you entered the whole shift
on a day that you were late I will reject your time card. If I do this
after the Sunday midnight deadline you will not have the opportunity to
go in and adjust your time card. You will, however, be paid for the pay
period, because I will add a note to the rejected time card alerting
payroll to the adjusted shift. Please be accurate with your time card
the first time around as it is more work for me and for the payroll
office to do the adjustment.

PUTTING EXPIRATION DATES ON GREEN HOLD SLIPS:  When you check in a book
that has a hold for a Hampshire patron and you jot the patron's name on
the hold slip, please be sure to stamp the green slip with today's date
or write the expiration date on the line provided on the green slip.
Holds expire after one week, so the expiration date is 7 days from the
date you put the book on the hold shelf. It is important to put these
dates on the hold slips so that we can clear off items that have been on
the hold shelf for more than 7 days.

LOST AND FOUND: Please make some effort when you are handed personal
items that were found in the library. By this I mean please look for
identification and contact the patron to let them know their items are
at the library. You may anonymously contact the patron by bringing up
their record in the check out screen in Aleph, then click on the yellow
envelope icon on the right of the screen. This will open up an email to
the patron, with a reply to address of libcirc at hampshire.edu. If the
patron replies to this email I will get the reply. Offer to hold wallets
until closing, and after that give the wallet to the closing campus
police officer. If you are working in the middle of the day and there
are shifts after you, please pass the message to the next person and so
on. There is no reason why we should have identifiable personal property
in the lost and found for more than a day. I also usually hold IDs for
the day and drop them in the campus mail the next day if the patron has
not yet picked it up. For backpacks that have identification but contain
nothing expensive like phones or credit cards, it is ok to hold the item
overnight, so long as you let Bev, Courtney, or I know that you have
reached out to the patron.

NEATENING THE SHELVES WHILE SHELF-READING: A general reminder that not
only should you be checking to make sure that the books are in call
number order when shelf reading, but you should also be pulling the
books to the edge of the shelves to make sure they are standing neatly
on the shelves. And please straighten up any books that you notice are
falling over as you are shelf reading.

Thank you and please ask if you have any questions about anything
addressed in this email.
