[Circulation] Holds that are already checked out

Hello All,

Lately we've had a number of problems getting the correct requested copies of
books for patrons. Instead of sending the books back and waiting to see if the
requested copy comes, I actually check the book out to the patron and send him
or her an email telling them that the book is here and already checked out.
For now, I'm putting these books on the hold shelf, but at the end and not in
call number order. I'm asking the patrons to tell the people at the desk that
the book is checked out so you will know where to look for it. The paging
slips show the patrons' names and the due dates. If the number of such items
continues to grow, I will dedicate one shelf for such items.

Please check with me if any questions about this email.
