[Circulation] continued circ problems

Hello All,

We continue to have the same problems with Aleph today. When checking in 5
college books, you may see a message to send the book to library "onten-onten."
The book actually does get checked in, and should be routed to its home
library. Immediately following that message is one that says that the global
record cannot be found, to which you click ok.

Another weirdness is that Hampshire patrons are not always able to be located by
barcode. If you get a patron not found message when scanning a barcode, do a
name search and chances are you will be able to find the patron record.

The biggest problem is with incoming 5 college holds. The system seldom puts
the holds on the holdshelf when we run them through check in. This means that
these holds still show as "in process" in the patron's record even though the
books are physically here. Until this bug gets fixed, you will be looking on
the hold shelf for all of a patron's holds, regardless of whether the patron
record indicates on holdshelf or in process. This problem is apparently
puzzling our Aleph support people too, so it's unclear how soon this problem
may be fixed. Believe it or not, these problems all arose from an upgrade that
was implemented on Wednesday.

Please contact me if you have any questions about this email.
