Hi Everyone,

1. Something strange is happening with the Smith holds. An item
will appear to be on the holdshelf when you check the patron record,
but the book doesn't actually arrive at the library until a day or 2
later. If you are unable to find a Smith book on the holdhshelf,
please jot down the patron's name and give it to me so that I can
monitor the situation. In some cases I make arrangements with the
patron to let them know when the book actually arrives. If it
continues to be a problem I will contact the Smith staff about this.

2. The computer that runs CD Rom's (on the second table in, closest
to the wall, left side) has been shut off at the power switch on the
back of the CPU this week. Stephanie Brown, database librarian,
tells me that this is not necessary - it is ok to leave this
particular machine on at the point where you get the box that says
it's ok to shut off the computer now. In the morning we just hit the
reset button to reload it.

Please contact me if anything in this e-mail is unclear.

Suzanne
