Hi Everybody,

First, my apologies to all of the weekend one students who panicked
when I sent the weekend reminder. I inadvertently used this mailing
list instead of the weekend list.

Now, down to business.

Expired Patrons
Last night someone did a manual check out to a patron whose record
had expired in Triple I. This should not have been done because
graduates no longer have the right to use their student records.
They must register for alumni cards and can borrow ONLY IF they live
in the greater Amherst area. The moral of the story: believe what
Triple I displays about expiration dates and call over a supervisor
when you don't understand the circumstances. If there is no
supervisor on duty at the time, you have to ask the patron to come
back when one is available. Until then, the patron may not borrow
from our collection. We can't even update the expiration of a
student from the other four colleges - the student needs to be
updated at their home library.

Shelving Issues
Chris and I would like to institute a new policy whereby reshelving
carts should be double-checked for call number order before doing the
second check-in. I've been noticing that the carts I've taken to
re-shelve are not completely in order. Another thing I'm noticing is
that current Div. III's are being loaded onto the reshelving carts.
The 2002 and 2003 editions should be shelved on the first floor next
to the circulation desk and should not even go onto the re-shelving
carts.

General Reminders
Don't forget, the late-shift meeting is next Thursday at 4:30.
Please tell me if you will be working through JanTerm and the Spring
Term as well.

Suzanne
