Hey there everybody:<div><br></div><div>Over break, let's all brainstorm some projects that we want to do in the 2-3 months remaining of the year.</div><div><br></div><div>I'm going to go out and spend $3 on a notebook, and then work to fill it with ideas!</div>
<div><br></div><div>Here are some things that I've been thinking about making:</div><div><br></div><div>-Chess sets</div><div>I'm already halfway through one, and it's a BITCH working with all this 1" square, but I think having a homemade chess set will be pretty cool when it's finished. </div>
<div>I'm thinking wire-brush silver for "white" and beeswaxed scale for "black" - because I'm that kind of cute :)</div><div><br></div><div>-Chess table</div><div>Consisting of a metal chess board (I was thinking 12-gauge with squares drawn on it with the MIG torch) and forged feet.</div>
<div><br></div><div>-Necklace holders</div><div>Just finished my first (image on Facebook). I have quite a few ideas of where I want to go to fulfill this function. But basically any tall thing with a long thing coming out of it would be acceptable. (Yes, Daniel, <b>that's what she said.</b>)</div>
<div><br></div><div>-Towel racks</div><div>Needless to say I've made a few of these. I'd love to make a few more, just for general use, but also get input on how I can make them more awesomer.</div><div><br></div>
<div>-Paper towel racks</div><div>If anyone hasn't seen the one Jacob made for The Div IV Mod, you should field trip there sometime. Thing is fucking inspirational.</div><div><br></div><div>-Lamp</div><div>Anything that is based around some hollow stock, that you can run a wire through, is a lamp. And many things that don't fit this description too, I'm guessing.</div>
<div><br></div><div>-Trivet</div><div>Like the one we're making for Jacob's class. Once we've got this design down, I'd love to see where we can go with it further.</div><div>I'd love one in a Celtic Knot motif.</div>
<div><br></div><div>-Andirons</div><div>The things that you use to poke a fireplace. Can be very simple, or insanely decorous. </div><div>But this is a fairly basic blacksmithing project, so we should do it.</div><div><br>
</div><div>-Tongs and chisels!</div><div>I'd love to forge a nice set of chisels for myself, for my own personal use.</div><div>I'd also like a pair of tongs or three. For that sad day when I no longer have Guild stock to use.</div>
<div><br></div><div>-Hammers</div><div>Mild-steel hammers aren't that difficult to make, especially if you've got someone to swing the sledge.</div><div>Doubly so if you aren't averse to MIG :)</div><div>I made about ten last semester, I'd love to walk people through the process.</div>
<div><br></div><div><div>-A bar of soap</div><div>This is not possible to blacksmith. Just seeing if you're paying attention.</div></div><div><br></div><div>-Bottle-openers</div><div>I should probably sit down and make 10 of these things, to cover my Christmas presents for the next half a decade.</div>
<div>I've made about 20 of these, would love to walk people through the process.</div><div><br></div><div>-Pen-holders</div><div>My current pen-holder I made my 2nd week of smithing. It is, shall we say, less than decorous.</div>
<div>I'd love some ideas on how to make prettier ones.</div><div><br></div><div>-Pendants, brooches, rings, &c</div><div>Very few ideas here. Want some moar!</div><div><br></div><div>-Corkscrew</div><div>Even if it means going to Target, spending $2 to buy a shitty corkscrew, cutting off the screw part, and welding it onto a decorative handle.</div>
<div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>...and, of course, samurai swords. Obligatory forging project is obligatory :)</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>MORE IDEAS! And help with DESIGNS! </div>
<div>Let's think some stuff up.</div><div>And then make it.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Overcaffeinatedly yours:</div><div><br></div><div>david axel kurtz</div>
