The 10th anniversary of the Blacksmithing program is being celebrated THIS SUNDAY, October 4th from 10am-4:00pm (although the best demos tend to happen from 10-12) at our annual Blacksmithing Meet (and greet).

Come see excellent smiths demonstrate cool new skills that we will try to emulate at open forge and come meet professional smiths from all over new england (we usually get like 30 of them here). If you have been doing this blacksmithing thing for awhile and you have anything you are proud of that you want pointers/feedback on, feel free to bring it and ask for feedback on your work.

In the afternoon there is occasionally time for a some of us to try our hands at things, but this is usually played by ear.

This year we will be having Hampshire students and alumni as our main presenters in celebration of the 10th year of the program. They are all skilled metalworkers, and there are some very interesting things for you to see and learn.

We also serve FREE FOOD. Come at 10am and enjoy Atkins Farms pastries, fruit, cider, and coffee. Stay at least through lunch, and enjoy high quality ala carte sandwich makings, delicious snacks, and free beverages.

In other words, I don't want to hear any of you complaining that you need to miss saga or some shit, 'cause we've got you covered.

Seriously though, last year student participation was low and this made Don very sad. The signers of this group, the visiting smiths, Lemelson, Don Dupuis, Roxie, our presenting students and alumn, and everyone else involved in the program would really be excited and appreciative if you showed up and represented Hampshire well.

BE THERE. SUNDAY AT 10AM. IF ENOUGH PEOPLE SHOW UP ON TIME WE WILL BUY WINGS FOR NEXT OPEN FORGE.

//Dillon

Dillon Compton
dillon.compton@gmail.com
