I am headed to an Artist Blacksmith festival in Ivano-Frankivsk,<br>
Ukraine this May, and I want to ask for your help. There are two big,<br>
international projects at this festival, both involving forgework of<br>
some kind.<br>

The first one is decorating a giant picture frame, the collaborative<br>
project of this festival. Each festival has a collaborative project,<br>
and this year's theme is "In Frames of Traditions". The smiths from<br>
Ivano-Frankivsk would like all the attendees to find an old<br>
blacksmithing object, like door handles, bells, nails, horseshoes,<br>
spades, spears, hammers, tongs, etc., from their home country to<br>
attach to the frame. They ask that we take this piece and embellish<br>
it with our own artistic design as well, so it is a piece of art<br>
across multiple generations and has some of our personality in it as<br>
well as that of the smiths of yore. It's a blacksmith sculpture in<br>
honor of blacksmiths, and sounds really exciting.<br>

So, I would really love to carry an object or two that was<br>
artistically embellished by the Hampshire Blacksmiths, because the<br>
forge at Hampshire is what brought me to this point. I want to<br>
represent you in some way. If you have something you want to do, let<br>
me know!<br>

The second project is a leaf for Australia. Information can be found<br>

Basically, the Australian smiths are 'planting' a metal gumtree as a<br>
memorial for the victims of the fires this past winter. They're<br>
asking smiths from all around the world to forge stainless steel or<br>
copper leaves and gumnuts for the tree as an international symbol of<br>
blacksmith unity. Pretty cool! I would love to bring a few leaves<br>
from Hampshire Blacksmiths!<br>
