Hello, Everybody.

Welcome to a new year of blacksmithing. I'll cut straight to business.

Shop hours have now changed, which means we have to smith at new hours as well.
Open Forge is running this semester from 8-10 on Thursdays, in Lemelson. No
previous experience is necessary, but you do need to have taken the Lemelson
saftey training. This happens to conveniently occur at 7 on Thursdays in
Lemelson, so if you show up for training you can start smithing immediately
afterwards. I would recommend you get your training done as soon as possible.
It covers you for all 4 years at Hampshire - you never have to take it again.
If for some reason you can't make it at 7 on Thursday, talk to the shop
supervisors.

The other big thing is shop attire. If you have long hair, come prepared to tie
it up. Don't wear sandals or other forms of open-toed shoes. Do not wear any
clothing made of synthetic fibers. Long pants are greatly recommended over
shorts, skirts, and dresses. Don't wear anything you wouldn't want to get
dirty. Basically, come prepared to work in a metal shop.

If you have any questions, email one of the signers, at ejl09 at hampshire.edu
bec10 at hampshire.edu or sah10 at hampshire.edu, and we will try to get back to you
as soon as we can.

We don't bother people much with this list, but if I have forgotten anything or
there is any news, I'll post it up.

- Ethan
