[Blacksmithing] open forge

Hi Rachel,

The Hampshire Forge is actually open to any five college student who would like
to use it any time that the Lemelson Center (that's our shop) is open. That is,
of course, with the caveat that you should know enough blacksmithing to not kill
yourself first.

The Blacksmith's Collective (that's us) host a more "official" open forge night
on Thursdays from 9-11. At this forge time there will be some experienced
student smiths working and sharing their skills with newcomers. Our resident
blacksmith, Don Dupuis, is also one of our shop managers and is always happy to
lend some advice about a specific project.

The only requirement is that you participate in the Lemelson Safety Training,
which takes place at 7pm every Thursday in Lemelson (which is located on
Hampshire 's campus, it's between the arts village and the library.

As soon as our campus funding comes through, we will be making an effort to have
some material on hand to work with, as well as snacks and drinks. In the
meantime, however, there is typically ample scrap metal to get started with for
free!

We suggest that you wear non-synthetic clothing, tie back your hair if it is
long, and make sure you wear closed-toe shoes for both the shop safety training
and the open forge times.

Hope that helps,

//Dillon Compton

P.S. please feel free to contact the list, or me personally
(dcc06 at hampshire.edu) with any further questions.
