Hey everyone,

So this semester we started the student group, the "ASL Collective" so that
we could apply for funding for the performance this Saturday (Flying Words
Project ASL poetry 7pm @ Main Lecture Hall in FPH!) and some other things.
Drew Pidkameny has said he could be a signer for the ASL Collective this
fall. So, if you would like to see the ASL Collective continue, we need two
more Hampshire students to be group signers.

What does the ASL Collective do?

-organize weekly ASL lunch at Hampshire

-moderate this email list

-plan a large event per semester (like a deaf performer)

-help organize trips to local deaf community events or conferences

-manage a budget- the ASL Collective can apply for up to $750 for this fall
semester.the budget can pay for:

            -events

            -meetings (if you have them)

-travel to local deaf community and related gatherings

-whatever else you can think of!

Most of it isn't much work at all- ASL lunch involves sending out a reminder
email and being at lunch and moderating the ASL list is basically forwarding
emails from other sources. Also, there are 3 signers to divide it out among
and you can get non-signers helping out too if you'd like.

I can give you all the info you need so you know exactly what to do. All you
have to do is be willing to help out and it's lots of fun! Whether you're
studying deaf studies or not, you can put this in your portfolio! It's up to
you guys if you want this group to continue. I can't do it because I will be
final semester div. 3 this fall.

Please let me know A.S.A.P. if you would be interested! Established group
funding forms are due April 20th.

Thanks and tell all of your friends about the AMAZING performance coming up
this Saturday!

Kaitlyn Millen :-)
