Lecture: Pulitzer prizewinner <b>Chris Hedges</b>, author of “War is a
Force That Gives Us Meaning” Panel of three veterans will respond
to Hedges’ presentationNichole Dardin (Army, Iraq era); Eric Wasileski
(Army and Navy; Desert Storm era, Desert Fox; President of Veterans for
Peace, Veterans Education Project speaker); Al Miller (Army, Vietnam,
Veterans Education Project speaker). Questions and answers and
discussion will follow.<br>

Film: “The Soldier’s Heart,” a powerful <i>Frontline</i> documentary
profiling the varied impacts of PTSD on the lives and the families of
four soldiers and marines who served in Iraq or Afghanistan. Jeff
Lucey, a local Marine reservist who was overcome by PTSD and who
committed suicide after his return from duty in Iraq, is profiled in the
film, as well as one of the founders of Iraq Veterans Against the
War. Members of the Lucey family will attend this screening to
participate in the discussion.<br>

Film<i>: After the Fog</i>, veterans of eras from WWII to the present
speak from the heart in this documentary about how military service in
wartime affected and changed their lives. Local Vietnam veteran
George Williams, a VEP speaker, is profiled in the compelling film and
will attend the screening and discussion. <br>

Film: <i>Turtles Can Fly</i> This film by acclaimed director Bahman
Ghobadi is the first film shot in Iraq after the American invasion and
the fall of Saddam Hussein. It tells the story of war’s youngest
veterans, Iraq’s children, struggling to survive in a war zone. A
heartbreaking masterpiece. Discussion will follow the
screening.</blockquote><br>
