The following is an announcement for the first training in the 2006 Help
Increase the Peace Project (HIPP) cycle.<br>
<br>
Between January and June, youth HIPP trainers from AFSC, Youth Leadership
in the Arts (out of Casa Latina) and FCAC Youth Programs will hold five
peer-led trainings for high school-age young people in our region.
<br>
<br>
We will hold 2 basic, 2 advanced and 1 training of trainers. At the
end of the cycle, youth participants become trainers and join the 40
young people already training in our region (from Athol to Colrain to
Springfield).<br>
<br>

HIPP is an excellent opportunity for youth, as well as adults, to
learn<br>
some great leadership, nonviolence, and conflict resolution skills. In
the Basic Training, HIPP introduces and unpacks the root causes of
violence such as racism and poverty, and other issues affecting youth
today.<br>
<br>
All trainings are free, open to all and transportation and food are
provided.<br>
