style='color:black'>APRIL 14-16, 2005</span></font></span></b><b><font

color=black><span style='color:black'> which brings together women activists
working for peace and women’s rights in </span></font><font color=black><span
style='color:black'>Iran</span></font><font color=black><span
style='color:black'> and </span></font><font color=black><span
style='color:black'>Iraq</span></font><font color=black><span
style='color:black'>; we thought you all should know about it! The
efforts to dismantle racism are also taking place on a global scale and
this conference and The Global Women’s History Project are part of that
effort in the </span></font><font color=black><span style='color:black'>Pioneer</span></font><font
color=black><span style='color:black'> </span></font><font color=black><span
style='color:black'>Valley</span></font><font color=black><span
style='color:black'>. . This conference is unique for a number of
reasons. We combine academics, and activists together to discuss the
issues that are really of concern to women in </span></font><font color=black><span
style='color:black'>Tehran</span></font><font color=black><span
style='color:black'> and </span></font><font color=black><span
style='color:black'>Baghdad</span></font><font color=black><span
style='color:black'>. We are a small </span></font><font color=black><span
style='color:black'>State College</span></font><font color=black><span
style='color:black'> in </span></font><font color=black><span style='color:
black'>Massachusetts</span></font><font color=black><span style='color:black'>
and we have put together a top notch group of internationally known women who
will visit our campus and present to the public and our student body on issues
that directly affect all of us. Our keynote speakers, <b><span
style='font-weight:bold'>Yanar Mohammed,</span></b> head of the <b><span
style='font-weight:bold'>Organization of Iraqi Women’s Freedom</span></b>
(OWFI) and <b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Shahla Sherkat, publisher and
editor or Zanan Magazine</span></b> in Teheran have been widely interviewed and
quoted in the U.S press including most recently Newsweek(March7,2005) as
well as Democracy Now and NPR. Yanar Mohammed will visit us from </span></font><font
color=black><span style='color:black'>Baghdad</span></font><font color=black><span
style='color:black'>, thus she will be in a unique position to discuss what is
happening there for women as well as the present situation “on the
ground” over the past two years. There will be an additional eight
delegates, four from </span></font><font color=black><span style='color:black'>Iraq</span></font><font
color=black><span style='color:black'> and four from </span></font><font
color=black><span style='color:black'>Iran</span></font><font color=black><span
style='color:black'>, to discuss various issues that effect women in both
countries. We are hosting a <b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Press
conference</span></b> on the first evening of the conference <b><span
style='font-weight:bold'>at </span></b></span></font><b><font color=black> <span style='color:black;font-weight:bold'>6:15</span></font></b><b><font
color=black><span style='color:black;font-weight:bold'> on the </span></font></b><b><font
color=black><span style='color:black;font-weight:bold'>Westfield</span></font></b><b><font
color=black><span style='color:black;font-weight:bold'> </span></font></b><b><font
color=black><span style='color:black;font-weight:bold'>State</span></font></b><b><font
color=black><span style='color:black;font-weight:bold'> campus</span></font></b><font
color=black><span style='color:black'> and would welcome any reporters or
writers who might want to attend the press conference or the events of the
conference themselves. We are also willing to arrange for press to talk with
the delegates for interviews at various times throughout the conference. I have
