Dear Labor and Community Organizations for the Employee Free Choice Act,
You are invited to send a representative to meet with Congressman John Olver
on Monday April 13, Noon-1pm, location in Holyoke to be determined by number
of responses. Please also forward this invitation to other pro-Free Choice
organizations
Please reserve a seat for your organization now. Simply email
wmjwj at wmjwj.org and tell us who is coming and how to stay in contact with
them.
This is a strategy session understanding that the fight is in the Senate and
that the Massachusetts Congressional Delegation is united with us. We are
exploring the tasks we and they must take on to get the Senate votes for
cloture (we have the votes for passage!).
Organizing a union is a civil right still exercised in an atmosphere of
terror. And with the economic meltdown, the US needs workers' power to
collectively bargain for a better life now more than ever. As you may have
seen, two high profile past allies, Senators Spector and Feinstein, are
frustrating the movement. But the people of the US are overwhelmingly in
favor of the bill - and seeking, at last, to be able to join a union without
fear.
If you have any questions about this event, please contact me.
In solidarity,
Jon Weissman
