Dear Friends,
 
The Pioneer Valley Coalition to Prevent War on Iran and Physicians for
Social Responsibility have been tracking the alarming Bush Administration
rhetoric and activity  regarding a possible military attack on Iran before
the November election.  We see the coming weeks as critical for any effort
to stop a potential Bush attack. This would be catastrophic to the men,
women and children of Iran, to our economy, wasting further resources
driving up oil prices, and, we believe, dramatically increasing the risk of
our using nuclear weapons. We feel it is urgent now to raise awareness and
activate people to block such a secretive and illegal White House decision. 
 
We have an opportunity this coming weekend with three graduations occurring
in the Five College area on May 24th and 25th. We are organizing emergency
roadside pickets alerting people to call Congress to demand intervention in
any plans to attack Iran.
 
We need your help. Many people will be away that weekend (Memorial Day) and
those who are here will need to chip in to do the picketing.
 
Please think hard about whether you can make it at the following times:
 
UMass graduation: 10 am to 12:00 pm Saturday, May 24 on University Drive
just north of Route 9/Russell St. across from the Big Y. Park in the Big Y
parking lot.
 
Amherst College: Sunday 8 am to 10 am Sunday May 25. Meet on Amherst Common,
south part near Route 9.
 
Mt. Holyoke graduation: 8:30 to 10:30 am Sunday May 25. Meet on the Village
Green at the intersection of Rts. 47 and 116.
 
Please let Doug Renick at AFSC know if you can make either of these times.
