Dear Brothers and Sisters who are part of the Street Heat program and the
Jobs with Justice e-activists,
Please accept our heartfelt thanks!
We have no doubt that your emails to Dave Madsen were a major factor in him
ceasing all anti-union activities within NABET Local 19 at WGGB abc40.
Shining light on Mr. Madsen's involvement with a Union-busting petition
caused him to receive a significant amount of negative attention. There are
still two other disgruntled members who may be continuing the effort at the
station but their attempts have so far been futile. Mr. Madsen was the was
the most effective force behind the petition.
This is another great example of how things work when people unite. Many of
us often doubt the effectiveness of certain actions but the result of this
campaign proves that Street Heat and Jobs with Justice e-activism works.
We have an 11-month bare bones agreement on the table right now and will
bargain it on February 14. There are some serious sticking points but we
are hopeful these can be worked out.
If not, our mobilization will begin immediately after that date. Please
continue to send emails to John Gormally (jgormally at wggb.com,
gormally at businesswest.com, gormally at comcast.net); it will strengthen our
position at the bargaining table.
We'll keep you posted.
Sincerely,
NABET Local 19 Executive Board
