THE WORKERS WHO MAKE OUR ARMY'S GEAR NEED SECURITY TOO
New Bedford's Eagle Industries makes tactical gear that American
troops use to defend the country. But Eagle's own workforce lacks economic
security and does not enjoy many of the basic workplace rights to which all
Americans are entitled. Please take action at
http://action.unitehere.org/campaign/eagleindustries.

FREE FILM: "LE MONDE SELON MONSANTO"
7pm, Media Education Foundation, 60 Masonic St (behind Woodstar
Café), Northampton. A new French film in English by Marie-Monique Robin
about Monsanto. Followed by a discussion with Jean Grossholtz, Mount Holyoke
College Prof. Emeritus. In 46 countries, Monsanto has become the world
leader in genetically modified (GM) crops, and one of the most controversial
companies in industrial history. Since its founding in 1901, the firm has
been involved in trial after trial because of the toxicity of its products.
The film tells the story of the last 40 years of Monsanto and its
destruction of the planet for enormous profits and power. Presents hitherto
unpublished documents and the testimonies of victims, scientists, and
politicians, and pieces together the origins of an industrial empire, built
upon lies, collusion with the US government, and attempted corruption, which
has become the world's leading seed manufacturer, spreading GM crops
worldwide amid a lack of any proper controls with respect to their effects
on nature and human health. It also tells the story of the victims and how
they are standing up for their rights. Info: Frances Crowe, 586-4950.
