Job Announcement: Administrator

The Bill of Rights Defense Committee seeks a detail-oriented  
individual to organize and manage a small, fast-paced, non-profit  
office. This position includes administrative, financial, and office  
management work. The tasks, which vary from day to day, include most  
aspects of the organization's work, such as:

Updating web site and posting news articles on civil liberties issues
Managing books
Editing and sending out email newsletters, action alerts, and press  
releases
Maintaining and updating database of contacts
Researching grant opportunities and tracking application and  
reporting deadlines
Answering phone, mail and email
Recruiting and managing interns and volunteers
Skills and experience with the following are required:

Computer programs, including Word, Excel, Quickbooks, an email  
program, and an Internet browser, with proven ability to learn new  
programs quickly
Web-based research
Writing and verbal communication
Setting priorities, working on a number of projects and tasks  
simultaneously, and meeting deadlines
Paying attention to detail and accuracy
Working without direct supervision
Working as a member of team.
Proven ability in the following areas is a plus:

Creative problem-solving and ability to move creative ideas into  
concrete action
Interest in current issues affecting civil liberties, the Bill of  
Rights, and the Constitution
Development and/or grant writing
A relational database program
Working with the press
Salary, hours and benefits: Salary based on experience. 37 1/2-hour  
work week, 10 paid holidays, 3 weeks paid vacation, individual health  
insurance
