Solidarity Concert for the earthquake victims of Peru. 
 
Peruvian people suffered a major earthquake (8 on the Richter 
scale) on August 15 of 2007. It resulted in 540 casualties, 1300 injured persons, and 40,000 family- houses destroyed. Hundreds of thousands of displaced residents of southern Peru are living in refuge camps struggling with shortages of medicine, water, and food. International solidarity is still needed. To help these displaced families, the Peruvian solidarity group will present Jose Gonzalez and Banda Criolla and the Pan American ensemble MarKamusic as featured by the Iron Horse Music Hall for the benefit of the earthquake victims. The concert will take place at the Center for the arts El Mercado, 413 Main Street, Holyoke, MA, on October 20th 2007. From 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM. Tickets are $10 and $8 for students with ID and will be sold on the day of the concert/dance at the door. 100% of the revenue will be donated to the Susana Baca Foundation which is leading the reconstruction efforts in the Santa Barbara town. Susana Baca is the Peruvian Grammy Award winner for Best Folk Album with Black Lament in 2002. She has also received the French Medal of Knights of Arts, Humanities and Science in 2004. Currently, she is Ambassador of Children Villages SOS Peru.

Concierto de Solidaridad con las víctimas del terremoto en el Perú.
 
El 15 de Agosto del 2007 los hermanos peruanos sufrieron un terremoto de grado 8 (en la escala Richter) que causó la muerte de 540 personas, hirió a más de 1300 y produjo la destrucción de más 
de 40,000 viviendas familiares. Aun hoy, cientos de miles de personas siguen viviendo en campamentos de refugiados enfrentando escasez de medicinas, agua y alimentos. La solidaridad internacional aun es necesaria. Por ello, el Grupo de solidaridad con las víctimas del Perú presentará a Jose Gonzalez and Banda Criolla y al ensamble Pan-Americano MarKamusic en concierto/baile a beneficio de las víctimas el dia 20 de Octubre del 2007 en el Centro de Artes Café El Mercado, 413 Main Street, Holyoke MA. de 7:30 PM a 10:00PM. Las entradas estarán disponibles en la puerta de El mercado el día del evento y cuestan $10 para el público en general y $8 para niños y estudiantes con ID. El 100% de las entradas será donado a la fundación dirigida por la Peruana Susana Baca (ganadora del Premio Grammy Latino 2002 con el Álbum Lamento Negro y recipiente de la medalla Francesa de Artes, Ciencias y Humanidades). Susana es además Embajadora de las Aldeas Infantiles SOS del Perú y actualmente está promoviendo, a través de su fundación la reconstrucción desde el pueblo de Santa Bárbara que fue también afectado por el terremoto.
