[Antiracism] Holyoke's GLBTQ Taskforce Organizational Meeting

        Hello Everyone, 
   
  Holyoke's GLBTQ Taskforce had its first organizational meeting on Friday December 15th at HCC. There were many great ideas and we are now ready to open up the meetings to the public. Everyone is encouraged to be involved to the best of their abilities! 
   
  These are the things we discussed:
   
  People we want on the Taskforce:
  - Holyoke Health Center Representative
  -Advisor from HCC
  -A Holyoke teacher
  -Police Officer
  -Church Member
  -Youth/Students
  -Community Members
  -Parents
  -Enlace de Familias Rep.
  -HHS Gay Straight Alliance
   
  GOALS:
  -Educational campaigns
  -Establishing a PFLAG in Holyoke (Parents, Friends, and Family of Lesbians and Gays)
  -Planning a Gay Pride in Holyoke (Parade, rally, gay youth prom - in downtown Holyoke)
  -Ability to provide services and make referrals
  -Address gay homelessness in Holyoke
  -Creating a strong city network of GLBTQ people and their allies in the city.
   
  The possibility of having 3 Committees within the Taskforce:
  - Education/Support Cmt.
  - Gay Pride Committee
  - Committee to work on rift between GLBTQ people and religious bodies.
  - others?
   
  Also, what should our official name be? Our logo? Please provide suggestions!
   
  NEXT MEETING: THURSDAY, JANUARY 25TH, 2007
  WHERE? GIRLS INC. TEEN CENTER, OPEN SQUARE. 
  WHEN? 6:00 PM
