[WMass Jobs With Justice]

Hi folks,

The next Western Mass Justice @ Smithfield meeting is Wednesday January 9,
7pm, at 640 Page Blvd, Springfield.

In the meantime we will leaflet a select group of Big Y stores during the
week of December 16-22.  Please plan to participate at a store near you.
Each store has a team captain who will work with other volunteers to choose
the day and time.  We are asking for what Tyrone calls "an hour of power."
Please commit to leafleting for one hour or until you run out of leaflets,
whichever comes first.  Dress warmly.

To volunteer, please tell me at mailto:wmjwj at wmjwj (you can include a
preferred day and/or time) and I will forward your contact info to a
captain.

Here are the stores and captains (if you want to suggest another store,
please do!):

Greenfield - Wayne
Northampton - Gary
Springfield Boston Road - Jon W
Springfield St James Av - Jon T
Chicopee - Tyrone
Longmeadow - John

Leaflets will be produced this week and distributed to the captains.  The
message will again focus on the Tar Heel atrocity but will include Big Y's
stubbornness and also pay respects to December 10, International Human
Rights Day.

Some of us also have agreed to write Letters to the Editor.  Mine to the
Advocate is attached.

Next month we will be in touch with Northampton City Council and Chicopee
Select Board regarding a resolution like Springfield's.

We also generated a list of other stores to ask to join Atkins and Stop &
Shop on an Honor Roll of food stores not selling Tar Heel pork.

We will leaflet again in conjunction with the Global Justice Day of Action
on January 26.
