AN INJURY TO ONE IS AN INJURY TO ALL [Please forward widely]
====================================
UNITY & SOLIDARITY in the face of government repression and right-wing
threats is our greatest strength and our best defense.
The ANSWER Coalition has put out an alert regarding the heavy fines in
Washington, DC for postering and threats by right-wing and fascist
organizations against the anti-war march scheduled for Sept 15 and other
actions taking place in DC. These threats are not only a danger to ANSWER
Coalition but to the entire progressive movement.
The National Troops Out Now Coalition, which is organizing a major March in
DC on Saturday, September 29 and a week-long Encampment in front of Congress
from Sept 22 to 29*, calls upon the movement to take the threats on the
ANSWER Coalition seriously and to respond with demands to end to the fines,
harassment and repression on the anti-war movement. [* FOR INFORMATION on

Warfare" DC Mobilization, phone us at 413-896-5219 (Springfield) or

ANSWER, in their e-mails and on their web site,
<http://www.answercoalition.org> stated: "the best way to take action is to
call the Director of Department of Public Works, William O. Howland, Jr. at
202-673-6833, and the Mayor of DC, Adrian Fenty, at 202-724-8876
They suggests saying something along the lines of: /"I am writing to protest
the fines levied against the ANSWER Coalition for putting up posters for the
September 15th March on Washington. The government does not fine politicians
who put up campaign posters, or commercial and business interests that
plaster Washington, DC with posters. It is outrageous that the city, in
concert with FOXNews, are attempting to suppress the antiwar movement. Stop
the harassment. Stop the fines." /

*Respond to Bush's war surge with a SURGE of resistance
The Troops Out Now Coalition notes that the next two months will see many
acts of protest and resistance against the war. Let's view this as a
Two-Month Surge of Resistance Against the War at Home and Abroad.
An injury to one is an injury to all. We will be a stronger force against
the lawless Bush regime if we do not allow any one political or activist
group to become isolated. Let's make every effort to create unity in the
anti-war struggle and rebuild solidarity with many progressive movements
working against racism, discrimination and for social justice here at home.
If we unite and support each other, we can make the month of September a
period of decisive action. Let's make it impossible for Congress, which has
a clear mandate to end the war, to once again betray the people and vote to
continue funding for Bush's criminal occupation.
The Troops Out Now Coalition urges the movement as a whole to organize,
mobilize, and support as many of the upcoming actions as possible. Many
other actions, such as student strikes and growing spontaneous resistance,
may also develop.
