Bread & Puppet Comes to Amherst presenting
2006 World Insurrection Circus

The circus is coming to Amherst! On Friday evening, September 29, 2006,
puppeteers from the world renowned Bread & Puppet Theater will join with
local community members to present the 2006 World Insurrection Circus on
the lawn behind Hampshire College's Red Barn (Rt. 116 in Amherst). The
circus begins at 6:00pm and is free and open to all community members. In
case of rain or cold, the circus will take place inside the Red Barn.

The 2006 Edition of the World Insurrection Circus -- featuring giant
puppets, stilt-walkers, choreographies of beautiful blue horses, the
explosive antics of the dancing bears, Pinky the FEMA elephant, harmonic
turkeys, the Rotten Idea Theater -- is an astute and joyous distillation
of political issues and much more, all accompanied by the B&P Circus Band!

The Bread & Puppet Theater is one of the oldest non-profit, self-
supporting theatrical companies in the U.S. The theater has been enacting
its radical utopian vision in cardboard and cloth for over forty years,
from the spectacle of its larger-than-life puppets at Vietnam War protests
in New York City to the pageantry of its long-running (over 25 years)
annual event, "Our Domestic Resurrection Circus" in Glover, Vermont.
