SAVE THE DATE: YOC and ALLIES Event 4/6/06

We're back with our second Youth of Color and Allies Networking Event!!
Thursday April 6th 7-10pm at UMass, Amherst Fine Arts Atrium!

Did you know that most often recruiters target middle and high schools whose 
students are mainly people of color and come from low-income homes?

If you know racism and military recruitment is a problem in our school 
systems, and want to be a part of making things change, come out to the next 
Youth of Color and Allies Networking Event Thursday April 6th 7-10pm at the 
UMass Fine Arts Atrium.

We will have an open mic, and whether it’s your first time or your 100th 
time, come and participate or experience in our discussion and find new ways 
to make connections about these issues. And of course, there will be food 
and dancing!

We ask that you bring your thoughts about the topics we will be focusing on, 
particularly:
What does racism look like to you?
What do you think of military recruiters in your school?

If you remember, last time you came to Youth Leadership in the Arts' first 
networking event we discussed racism in our school systems.
Here's some highlight's from our first event:

This event is brought to you by Youth Leadership in the Arts (YLA), a youth 
media activism program that has been organizing to bring youth of color and 
our allies together every other month around the valley to identify the 
source of issues we face in our communities and find solutions.
