attract a national audience for it as well.
Thanks. And please if you need to edit it down, go ahead! And visit the

New WORLD Theater
--------------------
REGISTER NOW! EARLY REGISTRATION EXTENDED THRU MARCH 13TH!
New WORLD Theater’s INTERSECTION IV: Re/Generations Conference and
Play Festival takes place at the University of MA Amherst campus, April
7-9!
Intersection is New WORLD Theater’s biennial conference and festival
examining new work practices by artists of color and showcasing
multidisciplinary theater pieces on the cutting edge of new aesthetics.
Begun in 1998, the conference is a diverse national gathering of
cultural workers: artists, educators, administrators, presenters,
funders, and activists. As an organization that bridges the worlds of
creativity and scholarship, community activism and professional
art-making, New WORLD Theater is committed to furthering national
conversations on cultural equity, emerging aesthetics and activism
through the arts.
As the title INTERSECTION IV: Re/Generations suggests, this year's
conference bridges the gap between the generations, convening a truly
intergenerational, cross-cultural gathering, to examine historical
models, investigate new aesthetics, and present new directions in
multicultural performing arts and activism. The conference will include
panels, roundtable discussions, artist-led workshops and organizational
case studies with the aim of investigating the many aspects of arts and
activism, creating new alliances and strengthening connections among a
growing national network of concerned and committed artists,
organizers, educators, cultural workers, and the organizations they
represent.
The three-day convening will begin with a Pre-Conference for youth, and
artists/organizers who work with youth, hosted by NWT’s Project 2050.
The conference features Keynote Addresses by Palestinian-American poet
Suheir Hammad and New Orleans-based activist Curtis Muhammad. Scheduled
performances include NWT’s youth program Project 2050, William O’Neal
of Junebug Productions, olive Dance Theatre, Mango Tribe, Kinding
Sindaw, FOMMA, a Future Aesthetics Showcase and an Indigenous Artists
Showcase, in collaboration with the Josephine White Eagle Cultural
Center, and more. The conference will also include a special session on
the archiving of artworks and organizational histories, featuring NWT’s
Asian-American Women Playwrights Archive. For a conference schedule,
please visit our website www.newworldtheater.org
Please join us in this opportunity to come together as a community
working towards positive change globally and locally!
Early Registration has been extended through March 13th, so register
now at www.newworldtheater.org (Click on Registration Information) or
call NWT at 413-545-1972.
