Hi Everyone-
I wanted to let you know about an upcoming event that we're sponsoring.
On Wednesday January 11th we will be showing the award-winning documentary film The Letter. Set in Lewiston, Maine, this film documents the repercussions of a letter written by their Mayor to leaders of the Somalian community asking them to stop moving to Lewiston. The film explores issues of race, racism, immigration, and the changing look of this small New England community.
Following the film staff from the Massachusetts Fair Housing Center and HAP, Inc. will facilitate a discussion on the film as well as racism and change in our own community. The film and discussion will take place at the Media Education Foundation located at 60 Masonic Street in Northampton, and will begin at 7:00.
I hope you will be able to attend and please spread the word. We presented the film in Ware last month and had a great turn out and a wonderful discussion afterward. If you have any questions please contact me.
