[Antiracism] Fwd: re pride zone outreach

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Please help us to recruit a diverse team of youth leaders for an 
exciting community development project! We are on a very short time 
frame, so please forward and distribute this flier widely!

As many of you have heard by now, Pride Zone (Northampton's GLBTQQIA 
youth center) was forced to close this past summer, after long struggles 
with funding and leadership.
Now, a coalition of local organizations and concerned members of the 
community is working to revive and revitalize the important services and 
community that Pride Zone offered.
Community Action (formerly FCAC) has agreed to administer some limitted 
Pride Zone programming for the rest of this fiscal year (through June 
30), while a fundraising committee works to pay off Pride Zone's debts.
In the meanwhile, a long term planning committee is forming to address 
the future of queer (etc) youth services in the Northampton area. THIS 
GROUP IS COMMITTED TO A YOUTH EMPOWERMENT MODEL, IN WHICH YOUTH ARE 
SUPPORTED TO TAKE LEADERSHIP AND MOVE PRIDE ZONE FORWARD. At least half 
of the long-term planning commmittee will be people aged 21 and under. 
We hope to develop a team of young leaders that reflects the diversity 
of the community in terms of race, class, gender and sexual identities 
/at least/.
Please help by distributing the attached flier to youth and people who 
work with youth. The next long-term planning meeting is THIS COMING 
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 12, so our outreach effort must be /immediate/.
