Stained Glass Art Exhibit by Joanne Alexander, Feb. 3. - 17
>From the mind of Joanne Alexander and the inspiration of the ages, take a
kaleidoscopic journey through the looking glass in this one-person exhibit.
Native of Brooklyn, New York, Joanne Alexander resides in New Jersey where she
designs and creates custom stained glass artwork such as mirrors, shutters,
masks, lampshades and window panels; a passion which she has vigorously pursued
for over twenty years. Her work includes the translation of African culture into
stained glass, as seen in her African mask mirrors.
Alexander notes, "The beauty of African Masks and the juxtaposition of ones
image are forever captured in stained glass." She adds, "The colors, textures
and kaleidoscopic variation in shapes and forms capture my imagination and
inspire my creativity more than anything. What a pleasure it is to transform
sheets of glass into shapes of beauty. No other medium can change a window into
a bouquet of spring flowers, a lamp into an artistic masterpiece, or a door into
an arabesque of exotic silhouettes."
