On Oct 6th I sent out a notice about the next Anti-racism meeting.
This is a reminder about the meeting on Sunday, Oct 30th with the
detailed announcement included below from Oct 6th.

See you this Sunday
Mary

E-mail from Oct 6th.

Greetings everyone -

We had a great meeting this past Sunday hope you can join us at the
next meeting.

Sunday, Oct 30th
12-4pm
Center for Contemplative Mind in Society
199 Main St. 3rd Floor, Northampton
( a couple of doors down from Haymarket Cafe - and across from City Hall)

In the last meeting we made progress conceptualizing the what and the
how of the Anti-racism Leadership Institute (one major focus will be
training on whiteness and white privilege analysis as we have stated
in previous e-mails). We also discussed how to support the Junebug
residency hosted by New Word Theater in December by helping to
organize Story Circles in the community. Junebug Productions is an
activist theater from New Orleans. www.newworldtheater.org

The group decided to step back from the network idea and to embrace a
coalition that will connect organizations and welcome individuals in
the coalition. This plan is up for further discussion.

Soulfighter ( Maurice Taylor) talked about recently attending the
Commemoration of the MAAFA at St. Paul Community Baptist Church in
Brooklyn, NY. He suggested that people attend the upcoming
Commemoration of the MAAFA in Ct. on November 4th and 5th. Maurice
will be looking into details for the group and several members said
they will carpool to the event. We'll provide more information about
attending the event and carpooling.

Please see details below about the Commemoration of the MAAFA from
two different sites.

Have a great October
Mary

THE MAAFA (African Holocaust)

The MAAFA is a Kiswahili term for "Disaster" or "Terrible
Occurrence". This is the word that best describes the more than 500
hundred years of suffering of people of African descent through
Slavery, Imperialism, Colonialism, Invasions and Exploitation.
