On Friday and Saturday, December 2 & 3, New WORLD Theater will present YOU 
CAN’T JUDGE A BOOK BY LOOKING AT THE COVER: SAYINGS FROM THE LIFE AND WRITINGS 
OF JUNEBUG JABBO JONES at 8 pm, Northampton Center for the Arts. This is a 
remarkable collection of tales and anecdotes as told by the southern folkloric 
character, Junebug Jabbo Jones. With lots of humor and in his own unique turn-
of-phrase style, Junebug illuminates upon slices of African American life and 
black folks’ struggle for rights and respect.

SPECIAL RESIDENCY ACTIVITIES associated with the performance will include 
community-bases STORY CIRCLES and a TEACH-IN focused on political meanings and 
social conditions in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Panelists will 
include John O’Neal and Curtis Muhammad, co-founder of Free Southern Theater 
in New Orleans and others. HURRICANE KATRINA TEACH-IN - Wednesday, Nov. 30, 7
