Hello,

I'm writing to let everyone know about a powerful performance/community
dialogue that will occur Saturday, June 18 at 12pm (tomorrow afternoon) at
Amherst College in Studio 3. New WORLD Theater, which is a multicultural
community arts theater located here at UMass, will be presenting a performance
by Junebug Productions entitled "You Can't Judge a Book By Looking at the
Cover: Sayings from the Life and Writings of Junebug Jabbo Jones." This project
is written and directed by John O'Neal, who was a field organizer for SNCC and
co-founder of the Free Southern Theater in New Orleans, and it will be
performed by his son William O'Neal (Webo). It will include meditations on
slavery, African American migration, the civil rights movement, and
contemporary African American life. The event will conclude with a "story
circle" which involves community/audience participation and dialogue. I'm
urging everyone to attend this event, which is free, however, you must call 413-
545-1972 to reserve a seat.

Peace,

Anthony Ratcliff
Project 2050 Interim Director
New WORLD Theater
