PROJECT 2050 ON THE FRONTLINES: SEX, WAR, AND LIES.
FRIDAY & SATURDAY, JULY 8 and 9 at 8 pm
What is the connection between the "War on Terror" and the "War on Drugs?" How
can young people fight the global AIDS epidemic? How reliable is the
information we get from the media? This year's Project 2050 Retreat will
explore the ways in which youth find themselves "on the front lines" of a
number of contemporary struggles. From military recruitment of young people of
color in public schools to homophobia and domestic violence, the youth will
explore and creatively respond to the "war zones" they encounter at home and
abroad.
Performances take place at Amherst College Holden Theater Complex. Tickets for
all events except Open Studios are: $12 for the general public; $8-low income
patrons and seniors; $5-children and students (with current I.D.) Tickets
available through the Fine Arts Center Box Office, 413-545-2511. Playlab and
Project 2050 performances are at 8 p.m. Open Studio events are free, but have
very limited seating and require advance reservations. Call 413-545-1972 for
Open Studio reservations only.
