About Earth	English (USA)
The focus and aim of Earth will be to promote sustainability, not only through educational efforts – which in and of themselves form an invaluable foundation indispensable to any progressive campaign – but also, and perhaps more importantly, through real world projects and initiatives whose completion will deliver much needed and tangible change in this time of planetary crisis. Central to the philosophy supporting our modus operandi will be the Earth Charter, an international “people’s declaration of interdependence” whose values and principles arguably constitute the closest thing available to a global consensus in terms of providing a guiding star of sorts for approaching a sustainable future in a sensible way. With the Earth Charter in hand, we will seek to include in our purview the whole spectrum of current pressing issues facing humanity – from poverty, through gender equality and equity, to promoting nonviolence and peace – and not just strictly ecological and environmental ones (although their importance and urgency will certainly not be overlooked). To the ends of considering this array of challenges and then doing something to resolve them, we will seek to work extensively with groups in the Hampshire community as well as beyond: regionally, nationally, and globally.
